Synopsis
2012 marks HANDS 15th year in the performing arts industry and in celebrating this ‘15th Anniversary’ a series of events have taken place to celebrate this milestone. In February, world renowned dance troupe, ‘Cloud Gate Dance Theatre’ of Taiwan held concerts in Penang and Kuala Lumpur, ‘Kaleidoscope II – HANDS Drumming Festival’ was showcased in March, ‘Souls in Love’ in August and ‘The Next’ in November. In December, the celebration ends with the ‘HANDS 15th Anniversary Carnival’.
The idea behind this carnival is to share the arts with the general public – to provide an opportunity for everyone to engage in performing arts as well as to learn more about our local culture. Therefore besides performances by HANDS, local artists and various performing art groups have been invited to perform. There will also be an Art Bazaar, a talk, talent show, workshops and a parade by the ‘Balik Kampung’participants, an on-going community project by HANDS. This parade of a thousand was only made possible with Amway’s ‘One by One’ community programme reaching out to children.
