Chaos in Unison

Synopsis

Drums! What does it mean to you?

Drums could mean different things to different people – it could be a tool to let your frustrations out with, an instrument through which you express your emotions or it could be like a lover, something you cannot live without. The sound of drums brings about different emotions. To some it is happiness or excitement, while in others it could invoke feelings of sadness or anger.

As individuals we constantly strive to find out paths or rhythm in life, we try to blend those paths in hope of finding happiness, love and acceptance. Often these experiences, both happy and sad are chaotic. But, these moments ultimately do define us. Does the sound of drums echo these emotions within you?

‘Chaos in Unison’ is an interpretation of the different journeys a group of individuals experience as they attempt to define themselves both alone and together. In this piece, we explore the intricate relationship between the drummer and the drum. For the drummers, it is not an easy task to express themselves through drums because drums do not produce melodies. The most difficult task for them while performing however is being themselves.

Let us embark on this journey in search of the meaning of drums and their sound. Can you hear what they are saying?
